Knowing we had 100 miles to cycle to reach Seattle we were on the road by 06:45, and had an incredibly scenic ride along Chukanut Drive (Highway 11) for the first 20 miles, reaching Burlington just before 09:00 for a fantastic breakfast.

After 98.2 miles of cycling, including some impressive hills, only 3 miles from our final destination, catastrophe struck; Woody's entire crank fell off. Fortunately, after a very cold hour huddled in a bus stop, Kevin Flynn, formerly of London Irish, currently of Seattle RUFC, picked us up and took us to meet the Seattle team.

After our techincal problems, Kevin Flynn kindly let us stay with his family and we were treated like kings. A huge piece of BBQ'd beef with corn was set before us, and a ready supply of cold beer was made available. The breakfast of Marmite and toast was an added bonus.
Our thanks must go to Kevin Flynn and family and the boys of Seattle RUFC. Without their help and hospitality we may not have had as memorable time in Seattle as we did.
